Our central mission is to enable the performing arts to thrive in our culture long-term, by helping those on the front lines — musicians, performing artists, administrators, and educators — to achieve sustainability and fulfillment in their careers.
With a team comprised of active musicians, we share a deep belief in the impact of our art forms and the vital importance of a thriving arts culture in our society.
By providing access to crucial professional development, education, and mentorship through an agile, multi-faceted online resource, Coro collaborates with universities, working performers, and students to support deep career literacy throughout our field, empowering performing artists to build more viable and sustainable futures.
Since 2009, we (Jennifer and Julia) have spent our careers helping musicians achieve meaningful and financially sustainable careers. This work has taken shape in a variety of forms: through iCadenza, we have consulted for hundreds of musicians, offered unique online education programs like Be Your Own Agent, and led workshops at numerous universities.
Our deep experience in coaching methodologies has also opened doors to consult for arts organizations and institutions. Since 2010, we have represented numerous soloists, ensembles, and multi-genre projects through our agency, Cadenza Artists.
Pursuing an entrepreneurial path in the arts happened mostly by accident for us. We founded iCadenza after winning second prize at Tufts University’s Gordon Institute Social Innovation Business Plan Competition during our senior years in college.
Music was our passion, so we started iCadenza to make a meaningful contribution to the classical music and performing arts industry.
After years of working with emerging artists and established professionals, we’ve continued to ask ourselves one question: How can we help even more musicians successfully transition into professional stability?
The answer: Our newest initiative, Coro by iCadenza.
WHO WE SERVE
Coro by iCadenza offers performing artists training on key professional skills, mentorship and coaching, and network development. When these key areas are combined with artistic excellence, artists are able to take action with clarity and therefore achieve stability and fulfillment in their careers.
If you are…
- A student or recent graduate who is looking to find the right path to a successful future in the field,
- A professional performer who is looking to launch new projects and expand your impact,
- A faculty or staff member who wants a diverse array of educational materials on career development to use with students,
… Coro is for you.
HOW WE HELP
Coro (Italian for “choir”) is a new division of iCadenza, a company founded in 2009 that exists to support performing artists’ career success through coaching and online education. Coro is comprised of the following:
Micro-courses: A growing library of pre-recorded online courses that cover a wide range of professional development topics for the “portfolio career” artist, including skills needed for performance, teaching, administration, entrepreneurial projects, and more. This content is produced and curated by iCadenza (with feedback from the Coro user community), features contributions from faculty and industry leaders around the world, and is designed to complement existing curricula.
Coaching: All members of the Coro platform have opportunities to participate in virtual coaching sessions and Live Q&As with members of the community and Coro content contributors. Coaching sessions are provided by iCadenza team members who have years of experience advising musicians on a wide range of topics.
Community: A private, moderated Facebook group is available to Coro users around the world to network, share experiences, and collaborate in a supportive and encouraging forum. Support networks are critical for emerging musicians to successfully transition into professional life, and Coro’s built-in community facilitates accelerated learning and connection-building across the world.
