Sarah Robinson has a varied career as a flutist, event producer, speaker, and educator. Sarah is a founding member of Helix Collective, a Los Angeles-based ensemble that specializes in multi-media, collaborative performance and recording. The ensemble has released two critically acclaimed albums and has recorded the scores for over twenty films. She is the director of the Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival and co-director of Classical Revolution: L.A. Sarah is the author of Clubbing for Classical Musicians, a guide to presenting music in alternative venues which has been called “enlightening, instructional, and inspiring.”
Sarah performs frequently as a chamber, orchestral and recording musician for film, television, and commercials in Los Angeles. She has performed and recorded with a variety of film and television composers including Jeff Beal, Jeff Russo, and George S. Clinton. She served previously as Principal Flute with the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and has performed with orchestras in California, the mid-West and Southeast of the United States.
As an educator, Dr. Robinson has taught chamber music and flute in the U.S. and England as well as courses in music literature. Sarah is frequently invited to speak at colleges, universities and conferences. Upcoming speaking engagements include visits to Curtis Institute of Music, the College of William and Mary, and University of Maryland, College Park. She holds degrees in flute performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, the University of Illinois, the University of South Carolina, and the Chicago College of Performing Arts.
